Vitalik Buterin Sells Tokens Worth Over $700,000

Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin recently sold over $700,000 worth of tokens that had been airdropped to him. According to Etherscan, his publicly known wallet address had sold 50 billion MOPS tokens, equating to 1.25 ETH (approximately $2,000) when the transaction was complete. He further cashed out 10 billion CULT tokens for 58 ETH (roughly $91,000) and 500 trillion SHIK tokens for 380 ETH (approximately $600,000). Moreover, according to PeckShield, BITE was one of the tokens he sold during his shitcoin selling frenzy on March 7. He reportedly transferred 3.4 million BITE for around $9,250.

Buterin Previously Sold Other Cryptocurrencies

It’s not the first time Buterin dumps coins. In May of 2021, his Shiba Inu and Dogelon Mars (ELON) sell-off caused the values of those tokens to plummet by 40% and 90%, respectively.

Buterin Mocks Shitcoins on Reddit

In a post published on March 9th on a small subreddit started by Buterin in July 2020 and still moderated by him today, he referred to the token Bite (BITE) and most other coins discussed as “shitcoins”. He stated that these cryptocurrencies have “no redeeming cultural or moral value and will probably lose you most of the money you put into them.” His post was met with a wave of trolling from other users of the subreddit who increased their shilling efforts and generated memes about it. Despite this criticism he received 250k BITE shortly after posting his comment. The token is not traded on major price monitoring websites yet however blockchain records confirm its existence in circulation in one wallet address only owned by Mr Buterin himself at present time .

Critics Debate Whether Selling Airdropped Coins Is Ethical

The sale has sparked debates about whether it is ethical for cryptocurrency developers or influencers to take advantage of such free money given away as part of marketing campaigns or incentivized activities by projects looking for more exposure or attention in return for coins given away freely without any strings attached beyond general terms & conditions laid down by project owners themselves . This debate has become particularly relevant due to recent influxes of new investors who may be more gullible than experienced crypto veterans searching for quick profits instead .

Despite this controversy surrounding his recent activity , Vitalik Buterin continues leading Ethereum development as one of its key figures alongside many other people working hard towards achieving ambitious goals defined in years gone past . Although some will always disagree with certain decisions taken , we must remember that everybody makes mistakes sometimes & nobody can be perfect all the time – even if they’re regarded as an industry leader like Mr Buterin .
